The creators of the Matrix Trilogy, the Wachoski Brothers, are bringing Speed Racer to the screen and to IMAX on May 9th.

Based on the classic 1960s series created by anime pioneer Tatsuo Yoshida that later was retooled for North American audiences, the film follows the adventures of the young race car driver Speed in his quest for glory in his thundering gadget-laden vehicle, Mach 5.

Check out the first official trailer from the live action adaptation that stars Emile Hirsch, Christina Ricci, John Goodman, Susan Sarandon, and Matthew Fox.
