The Bourne Ultimatum

The Saga of Jason Bourne wraps up in superb fashion with The Bourne Ultimatum, the third and final installment of the Robert Ludlum based action-thrillers. I have long been a fan of these movies, and part 3 definitely does not disapoint. I would go so far as to say that during the “Summer of 3’s”, this is the one that will go down as the best. As a matter of fact, I believe it may be the best of the Bourne movies. Identity was great, but Ultimatum really gives it a run for its money. It is non-stop from beginning to end and really wraps the story up well. It is a fitting end for a great motion picture franchise. The late Robert Ludlum would’ve been proud. The Bourne Ultimatum

Director Paul Greengrass uses his “shaky camera” cinematography to perfection , just as he did in the other two Bournes, and United 93. I really love this brand of camera work - I think it is an excellent tool for bringing the audience into the film.  Matt Damon was excellent as Jason Bourne, in a role that time may, in time, define him as an actor. And Julia Stiles was surprisingly good as well. I wasn’t really a big fan of hers in the other two films, but she made me second-guess myself in Ultimatum.

Ultimatum picks up where Supremacy left off - right in the middle of a chase scene between Jason Bourne and Russian officials. From here the action doesn’t let up much. Throughout the course of the movie, Bourne continues to run and run some more, all while intermittently kicking the crap out of the people who are trying to catch him. There are many “holy crap - that was cool” moments in this film as Bourne make all sorts of tactical decisions in his quest to uncover the truth about his past. If you’re into car chases, there is one in Ultimatum (near the end) that had me on the edge of my seat. It was awesome!

This is just an all out fun movie with action from beginning to end. Some really good performances, and a story line that really wraps up the trilogy well make this one sure to please. If you’re a fan of the previous to Bourne movies, I guarantee you’ll like this one. Go check it out!

great movie. I have really enjoyed the bourne movies. I didn’t even mind the shaky camera. And the fight scene after he jumps through the window..wow..that was amazing…

One of my all time favorites! I’ve been a big fan of the trilogy and I fell in love with the movies since I first saw Bourne Identity. The other 2 movies were really impressive as well.
